Ulmus crassifolia (botanical name) is an upright or vase-shaped tree with lustrous dark green leaves and a spreading canopy that casts excellent shade from the summer heat, and since it is deciduous, it drops its golden colored leaves in the fall to let in the warming winter sun! In its native habitat, you will often find this Cedar Elm tree in woodlands, ravines and open slopes. The Cedar Elm growth rate is medium and when mature, can grow to be a large sized tree.
